We have been training hard for the Calderdale Finals. Come rain or shine, we run to our full potential, putting in all our effort and stamina into the races. We train at People's Park, giving the children a vigorous training regime and pushing them to their limits.
On Tuesday 27th November 2018, we took part in the annual Family of Schools Cross Country Competition. Five schools in total competed in this round. The children braved the arctic conditions, with the rain and icy wind baring down on the Savile Park Moor.
Our first bronze Medal came in the year 3 boys race, Abdullahan ran a good pace showing grit and determination, whilst managing to hold on to 3rd place. A fantastic achievement as he has no previous experience and certainly one to watch in the future.
Then in came our year 4 boys and girls, showing Calderdale just how to do it with Zaki bagging a Gold Medal and Raid and Elleni a well deserved Bronze. Perhaps the best run of the afternoon had to be the year 5 girls. Reshem ran brilliantly and managed to keep nearly half a lap in front of her competitors, to secure a Gold Medal. Team mate Khadeeja was not far behind picking up a Bronze Medal. Sahil had a super race bringing home a fabulous Bronze Medal. Then year 6 managed to keep up the high standard of Parkinson Lane School by Alesha winning a Gold and Sufyan winning a Bronze Medal.
What an amazing afternoon and great achievement to bring home 9 medals. We will continue with our training sessions, showing great
determination so we will be ready to smash it in the next round, which will be the Calderdale Schools Championships. Well done to all our fantastic Cross Country Squad and Miss Nikki, Mr
Horsfield and Mr Ormerod.
Our Cross Country training sessions are on Tuesday mornings at 9:00am - 10:30, Thursday mornings 9:00 - 10:30 and Tuesday after school 3:00pm - 4:30pm.
