Intent - How we have planned our MFL curriculum – French

At Parkinson Lane Community Primary School, we believe that a quality MFL curriculum should nurture children’s love of language learning alongside developing their cultural capital. We aim to develop cognitive language skills whilst celebrating the rich diversity of language spoken in school and our community. We aim to inspire an appreciation of learning a new language through listening, speaking, reading and writing, enabling children to understand and communicate ideas, facts and feelings. Through a fun learning environment that fosters confident communication, children will develop a secure knowledge base through the three pillars of progression: phonics, vocabulary and grammar. This will lay the foundations necessary for further language learning at Key Stage 3. We believe that every child should have the right to a curriculum that is ambitious and promotes excellence and we have high expectations for all groups of learners
