SEND Governor

Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Governor's Statement

Hello

May I introduce myself, I am Keith Moran and I have been a governor at Parkinson Lane school for a total of 29 years. I am currently one of the vice chairmen on the general governing body. I am also a member of two sub committees, these being curriculum and community and staffing and finance. I am the health and safety governor for school.  Within this role I endeavor to create a safe, warm, secure, and welcoming environment for all and ensure  staff and children are able to work to the best of their abilities. I am also the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) governor and work closely with the inclusion team within school.

I worked at Parkinson Lane school for 15 years and my role as an employee was the caretaker then maintenance manager. I had the honour and privilege to be married to and work alongside the matriarch of the school Mrs Moran for 44 years. My time working at the school gave me the opportunities to be a part of the daily life within school and to work closely with children of all ages. Whilst employed at school I organised, planned and ran OOSH clubs in wood work and had an active role in the daily breakfast club.

I am committed to making sure all pupils reach their true potential including SEND pupils. I also strive in putting the school back to its rightful status of “Standing out from the outstanding” and I will continue to work closely with the inclusion team to develop SEND provision within school and address issues related to SEND and safeguarding from the latest OFSTED report.

I believe that if every child is given a good education that is the key to unlocking the future and that every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the very best they can be.
