Intent
At Parkinson Lane Primary School we pride ourselves on having a holistic approach to Physical Education which provides all learners with the physical, social and emotional skills needed to prepare them for life in the wider society.
In order to achieve this, we adopt approaches and supporting resources that directly align with the vision and values of our school. We know active, healthy children achieve more. It is essential that Physical Education supports the philosophy of our School, develops the whole child and that every pupil feels included, challenged and supported.
Staff training enables all teachers and support staff to deliver exciting and engaging lessons with the confidence to deliver outstanding outcomes for all children. It is essential for us that we can demonstrate and evidence clear impact of learning, perceptions and positive behaviours and make the very best sustainable use of our sports premium spend.
From the skills that children develop within the taught physical education curriculum, we endeavour to encourage children to implement them into a competitive environment. The model also allows the subject leaders to use the Real PE approach with their pupils to support other staff before a review at the next training day and by taking part in a wide range of competitions through school sport. We believe we can create an enabling environment in PE where young people feel included, valued, challenged and supported to achieve their maximum potential, in school and in life.
